No White Knight is Coming

I spent my entire life waiting for a white knight to come save me. I was desperate for change, but so stuck it seemed impossible. Looking back, I think it's because I was always attempting to transform myself through some external force or person, rather than going deep and working on myself. Eventually, I was beaten down enough to actually begin my inner-work, and it led me on a fantastic adventure. There were a lot of tears, tons of rage and anxiety, but piece by piece came the joy and contentment I sought my entire life. I also started to develop self-respect, self-confidence, and, for the first time, unwavering personal standards.
